Ameesha was spotted with a white bandage around her knee at Hrithik Roshan’s party on Sunday night. The actress who had injured her knee in August while working out is still in the healing process.

It is learnt that Ameesha Patel sprained her knee while working out. She was spinning excessively and damaged her knees. Currently, the actress is been undergoing physiotherapy. Patel continues to workout but is extremely cautious about her knee. She’s not doing cardio and lower body workouts.

Ameesha’s trainer, Khushru Cooper says, "She is recovering. These are joints of the body which are used at every movement of yours, may be while walking or sitting. Thus it is a slow and careful recovery. Her physiotherapy is on and will be fine soon."

Princess Diana's thank you letter raked in a whopping 800 pounds

A thank you letter from Princess Diana , which she sent to her fashion designer pal Bruce Oldfield and business partner Anita, raked in a whopping 800 pounds at an auction after it was unearthed by Cash in the Attic.

The note and a Christmas card from Diana to Bruce raised the big amount for children`s charity Barnado`s at the special London auction on the BBC2 show.

The Princess of Wales sent the letter to her fashionable pal on December 20, 1988, to thank him for a blouse.

"I do love my Christmas present and how smart it is. You are incredibly kind to have given it to me and I am overwhelmed and speechless (makes a change!) by the arrival,” a news daily quoted her as saying in the letter.

"I`ve never been able to keep a parcel until the right day so I fear I`ve opened it immediately. Thank you both more than I can possibly say for thinking of me. Lots of love from Diana,” she added.

"It`s wonderful that they made such a staggering amount,” said Bruce, who was raised in Barnado`s.

"I`m sure Princess Diana would be pleased that a simple card and thank you letter would help to support a charity of which she was president,” Bruce added.

The show will be screened in January.

Bollywood Movie Review:Salman Khan's London Dreams

If you thought ‘Wanted’ perfectly showed what Salman is really capable of, you got to watch this one. It seems that there could not have been a meatier way of getting superstars Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn together after their almost a decade-old blockbuster ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’. Vipul Shah’s latest venture, ‘London Dreams’, which released all over this Friday, can definitely be watched exclusively for Salman Khan and one of his best performances ever, if not for anything else.

This one is of course the story of two thick pals, and about how their lives take them from the lush fields of Punjab to the high stakes world of stardom. Arjun (Ajay Devgn) is an ambitious, trained musician whose dream is to perform at London`s Wembley Arena. His best buddy Mannu (Salman Khan) is an inborn talented musician. But Mannu is not very serious about music. But Arjun insists Mannu to join a band, and that’s how he becomes an overnight star. And now, the best of relations get strained.

The first half, honestly, does just enough to set things up for the explosive drama that is to follow post-interval. The drama gets going when Ajay plays a vicious game and hatches a conspiracy to ruin his friend`s career.

What can really be appreciated about this one is the way Vipul has managed to give equal attention to both his leading men. And certainly not to be missed here is Salman Khan - Be it his light-hearted comedy in the first half or his troubled tryst with glory post interval, this is perhaps Salman`s one of the best performances ever. ‘London Dreams’ sees a completely controlled Salman, who emotes as naturally as never before.

On the other hand, after successfully showing his funny side in his last hit ‘All The Best’, Ajay Devgn has once again carried off his character with utmost intensity. From love to jealousy to anger to insecurity, Ajay brilliantly conveys a wide range of emotions in ‘London Dreams’. Asin Thottumkal is likable and she too does full justice to her role of a common love interest, though she doesn’t seem to have much to do there!

On the whole, ‘London Dreams’ is amongst Vipul Shah`s most accomplished works till date. Plus, what else can one ask for when it boasts of some incredible performances by two of the most talented superstars of Hindi cinema.

Zayed Khan done the scary stunts in BLUE

Actor Zayed Khan says that when his parents Sanjay and Zarine Khan watched his heart-in-the-mouth motorcycle stunts in recently released "Blue", they threw a fit.

"When I saw their reaction, I had to do some quick thinking or else my parents would freak out and probably order me to give up movies. My helmet, which covered my face through most of the mo’bike racing scenes, saved me. I told them it was a body-double doing those stunts," Zayed told IANS.

But the fact is Zayed did most of the action scenes. "I had accepted the role only so I could do these stunts. Except when my bike jumps on to a train, all the other stunts are mine. And that train stunt I didn’t do because my action director said he wanted me to be alive to complete the film," he said.

Released Friday, the underwater thriller is directed by Anthony D’Souza and also stars Sanjay Dutt and Akshay Kumar.

Ever since Sanjay’s near-fatal fire accident in 1989 in Mysore during the shooting of the serial "The Sword Of Tipu Sultan", Sanjay and Zarine are paranoid about shooting mishaps. Sanjay suffered extensive burns and almost lost his life.

When their only son Zayed decided to become a movie actor, their first and only pre-condition was, no dangerous stunts.

"It was almost like a holy diktat, not to perform anything that would be potentially harmful to me," said Zayed.

Until "Blue", where on the script level itself Zayed could see that his two lengthy bike chase sequences on the Ducati 999 were potentially more lethal than anything the average action hero performs.

"I had two options - either say no to the most exciting role I had been offered so far. Or hide the truth from my parents," he said.

Zayed chose the latter option. And went on to do the stunts with his heart in his mouth. "Not because I was scared, but what would my parents think and say when they saw what I had done."

Zayed hopes his parents accept the truth. "If you are an actor, you gotta do it all. One can be wounded even while standing under a roof. Jo hona hoga woh hoga (whatever has to happen, will happen)," he said.

Madonna started schools across the world

Madonna kick started the work on her new 10-million pound girls’ academy in Malawi by cutting a ribbon and planting a tree, and said she would build more schools across the world if this project was successful.

“Growing up in a privileged life, I took education for granted…but coming to Malawi has taught me a lot of things and I have learnt to appreciate what life gives," the Daily Express quoted Madonna as saying at the ceremony held in the capital city of Lilongwe.

She added: “After seeing all the hard-working Malawian women, who are looking after families and communities, I realised how much they deserve to be educated.

“For me the best thing I could do was to build a school, a unique school that will create future female leaders, ­scientists, lawyers, doctors. And, if this school is successful, it will be used as a model to replicate it in other countries.”

The Raising Malawi Academy for Girls, funded by Madonna’s charity Raising Malawi, is scheduled to start in two years and will help educate 500 students.

Michael Jackson fans will get a poignant glimpse of what might have been as a movie charting the tragic singer’s rehearsals for his concert comeback makes it worldwide debut on Tuesday.

More than 100 hours of behind-the-scenes footage for Jackson’s aborted return to the stage have been distilled into a two-hour film hyped by organizers as the last ever performance by the "King of Pop."

Jackson family members and fans will gather at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles for a 6:00 pm (0100 GMT Wednesday) premiere, one of more than 15 simultaneous screenings held across five continents in a reflection of the pop icon’s global reach.

"This Is It" will go on a limited two-week release in theaters worldwide starting Wednesday, with advance tickets in several countries selling out within days of going on sale last month.

"It’s a movie about rehearsing for a concert that never happened," Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal said in a recent interview.

Jackson, who died on June 25 aged 50, had spent the previous four months rehearsing in Los Angeles for a gruelling series of 50 concert spectaculars scheduled to begin at London’s 02 Arena in July.

More than 800,000 tickets had been sold for the concerts, with organizers promising one of the "most expensive and technically advanced" live shows ever.

Jackson was putting the finishing touches to the show at the time of his death, which authorities in Los Angeles have ruled a homicide.

Video footage from the rehearsals had been intended to help organizers critique the show and was never intended for public viewing. Sony bought the footage for 60 million dollars after executives saw only several minutes.

Sony has said an "unprecedented number" of shows across the United States have sold out and other cities -- including London, Sydney, Bangkok and Tokyo -- experienced similar levels of demand after tickets went on sale in September.

Analyst Jeff Bock of box office tracking firm Exhibitor Relations said the film could "play bigger than Elvis."

"This is more of a memorial than a movie," Bock told AFP. "I think we could be looking at 70 to 100 million dollars in the first five days alone, which is extraordinary for this type of film.

The movie got an early stamp of approval from Jackson’s long-time friend and confidante, actress Elizabeth Taylor.

Taylor, who recently underwent heart surgery, hailed the movie as the "single most brilliant piece of filmmaking I have ever seen" in a tweet on micro-blogging site Twitter.

"It cements forever Michael’s genius in every aspect of creativity."

Despite the anticipation surrounding the film, a group of diehard Jackson fans have launched an online campaign urging devotees of the singer to boycott the movie, claiming it hides the truth about his final days.

The group claims on its website -- "This-Is-Not-It" -- that the movie attempts to mask Jackson’s physical frailty as he maintained a punishing schedule of rehearsals.

"In the weeks leading up to Michael Jackson’s death, while this footage was being shot, people around him knew that he looked like he might have died," the group said. "Those who stood to make a profit chose to ignore it."

Associates of Jackson have insisted the star was in good health during the rehearsals.

A fake case registered against Amitabh Bachchan and Amar Singh

The Uttar Pradesh Government on Monday reportedly ordered the state police to start investigating a complaint registered against Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh and cine actor Amitabh Bachchan in a case related to a land scam.

Both Singh and Bachchan have said that they are being framed by the state government.

A case filed before a Kanpur magisterial court has accused both of defrauding the public and concerned parties of Rs.500 crore.

“Mayawati is baffled because of her own failures. Her own misdeeds have been exposed by the Supereme Court. Therefore, she got a fake case registered against me and Amitabh Bachchan,” Singh told an election meeting ahead of an assembly bypoll in the state.

The Bollywood actor’s name also appears in the 14-page police complaint lodged in Kanpur.

“State police is working on the directives of the Chief Minister and the SP workers are being harassed most” Singh added.

Describing the ruling BSP in Uttar Pradesh and Congress as the two sides of the same coin, the SP leader said, “While Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi is visiting Dalits’ houses and is sharing food with them, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is playing into the hands of UP Chief Minister Mayawati.”

Reacting to his statements, state Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Swami Prasad Maurya said Singh is suffering from “mental bankruptcy”.

'All The Best' to be best film till date

Asterix are still have become a global publishing phenomenon

After 50 years Asterix and his village of indomitable Gauls are still gamely holding out against the Romans, while in the meantime they have become a global publishing phenomenon.

Despite their defiantly French character, the comic book adventures of the first century BC warrior have sold 325 million copies -- 200 million of them abroad -- and been translated into 107 languages and dialects.

The 20-year-old Asterix theme park outside Paris rivals even the same city`s Disneyland as a tourist draw and a series of hit movies, including both live action and animated capers, have been worldwide hits.

This month`s anniversary will be a huge event in France, with the launch of the 34th book -- a celebratory retrospective -- and major events in the capital and in Brittany, where several villages claim to be the hero`s home.

Asterix`s creators, the late writer Rene Goscinny and illustrator Albert Uderzo, have never identified a single site as the inspiration for the village, a Gaullish hamlet in a forest by the sea besieged by Caesar`s legions.

The map on the first page of every Asterix book shows the village in close up under a magnifying glass, thus obscuring its exact location, but in Erquy, on the Breton peninsula`s rocky northern coast, they have no doubts.

"You see these three rocks? They`re the same as those you see under the magnifying glass!" declares Jean-Pierre Allain, the picturesque fishing port`s retired bookseller and passionate amateur archaeologist.

There are other clues. Hiking maps record a nearby site called "Caesar`s camp", and locals insist a lighthouse on the jetty looks remarkably like the one on page four of Asterix`s 1971 adventure "The Mansions of the Gods".

"Asterix`s village is here," declares Manuel Mendes, a stonemason whose girth resembles that of Obelix, Asterix`s huge comrade, a warrior so strong he can carry Brittany`s menhirs -- prehistoric standing stones.

A granite statue of Mendes` hero stands outside his business, celebrating the village`s pride but also pointing to the massive commercial potential for any resort that becomes recognised as Asterix`s home.

Accordingly, several other villages have also claimed the title, including one in nearby Normandy and one hundreds of 460 kilometres (285 miles) away in the Calais region. "That`s not very likely," snorts Allain.

Since the first story in 1959, Uderzo has drawn the village -- with its stone huts, Fulliautomatix the blacksmith`s forge, Unhygenix the fishmonger`s stall and Cacophonix the bard`s treehouse -- hundreds of times.

He took a helicopter flight over Erquy in 1996 and afterwards admitted that he might have "unconsciously" modelled his vision on the area`s rocky cape and sandy bay, before later insisting the village was purely imaginary.

Erquy will therefore have to content itself with being an unofficial draw for the Gaul`s fanatic devotees, unlike Parc Asterix outside Paris, which drew 1.8 million visitors last year despite the economic crisis.

Main Aur Mrs Mrs to telecast on DTH satellite

In a bid to rake in more moolah, UTV Motion Pictures has decided to telecast its recently released film `Main Aur Mrs Mrs Khanna` on DTH satellite.

"We see this as a revenue generating source. We are just trying to bring in more revenue for the film in whichever way possible," UTV Motion Picture`s CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur told
reporters.

A decision to this effect was taken last Wednesday, he said.

`Main Aur Mrs Khanna` which hit cinema houses on October 16 did not receive much response from audiences and acclaim from the critics.

The movie`s producer Sohail Khan, who has also acted in the movie, said the film`s collections suffered on account of the Diwali, which saw multiple releases on the same day.

The movie was released along with Akshay Kumar `s `Blue` and Ajay Devgan`s `All the Best`.

Sohail, who tied up with UTV for `Main...`, admits that the film did not do well at the Box Office. However, he was optimistic about its prospects in the coming weeks.

Michael Jackson`s dedicated fans have started an awareness campaign

A small group of Michael Jackson `s dedicated fans have started an "awareness" campaign surrounding the upcoming movie `This is It,` saying it covers up the grim reality of the dead pop star`s final days.

The group represents fans from at least 10 countries who claim the movie, which hits theaters around the world on October 28 and is based on Jackson`s rehearsals for a series of London concerts, conceals the "dire state" of his health while enriching its promoters that they hold partly responsible for his death on June 25.

"In the weeks leading up to Michael Jackson`s death, while this footage was being shot, people around him knew that he looked like he might have died. Those who stood to make a profit chose to ignore it," the group says on its website, www.this-is-not-it.com.

Jackson was preparing for the concerts at the time of his sudden death, which was ruled a homicide by the Los Angeles County Coroner and attributed to an overdose of the powerful anesthetic propofol as well as the sedative lorazepam.

Police have focused their investigation into his death on the entertainer`s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray. So far, no charges have been filed.

Kenny Ortega, the director of "This is It" who also was choreographing the concert rehearsals, told Reuters earlier this week that he saw no signs of drug dependency in Jackson, that the singer was excited to be performing and that the film was not intended to make a profit.

In a separate interview on Thursday, Ortega called the movie a "musical mosaic...that I think will help the fans come to appreciate and understand what Michael was putting into "This Is It", what his dreams were for it, what his goals were for it."

"It is a story of a master of his craft, a great genius in his final theatrical work and creative process," Ortega said.

The concert promoters, AEG Live, did not return calls for comment.

The group is made up largely of longtime Jackson fans, some of whom have spent time with the entertainer over the years and attended nearly every day of his 2005 child molestation trial.

They say they became so concerned about Jackson`s health that on June 21, four days before his death, they wrote to him asking him to stop the tour if he was not up to it.

"It is our wish to help people understand where the responsibilities lie, pertaining to Michael Jackson`s passing, in the hope that if they choose to watch the film, they will do so with critical eyes," the group said in a written statement.

"In fact, we believe that those around Jackson chose to look the other way when it was evident he was having problems," the fans said.

"We want to celebrate Michael Jackson and his amazing legacy, but we cannot do so until the truth comes out, justice is served and the lies are exposed."

The fans say they will hand out fliers promoting their cause at the premieres next week for `This is It.`

Prabhu Deva’s decision to rope in Nayantara might have come from his heart rather than head because he’s rumoured to be having an affair with the actress. Asin chooses her roles carefully

Southern beauty Asin, who is looking forward to her mega budget Bollywood release London Dreams, says she chooses her roles carefully as she doesn’t want to do anything vulgar or indecent.

"I would never do something that is baseless, vulgar and indecent, something I am not comfortable doing and therefore can’t do justice with," Asin said.

"When I choose a film, my criteria are script, role, director, producer and then co-artist. Language or financial issues never determine what film I want to do," she added.

The 23-year-old made her debut in Hindi movies opposite superstar Aamir Khan in the hit film Ghajini last year.

Salman Khan take responsibility to protect Sonakshi Sinha

Salman Khan has promised to take care of Sonakshi Sinha as she stars alongside him in Dabangg.

The actor had to persuade Sinha’s father Shatrughan to let his daughter take the role and has vowed to protect her family’s dignity.

"Salman is making sure Sonakshi has the best possible launch," Shatrughan told.

"I allowed her to get into films on his persistence and Salman has taken upon himself the responsibility to make sure she emerges from her debut with our family name and her dignity intact. This was the request I had made to him."

A.R.Rahman to collaborate with London singer Juggy D

Juggy D has said that he would like to work with A.R. Rahman on some tracks for Bollywood movies.

The London-based singer, who had hits with ’Mere Dil Vich Hai Hum Tu’ and ’Dil Mera’, believes that collaborating with Rahman will help launch his career in India.

"It’s been a while since I have sung in a Hindi film. I would love to do a Bollywood song. In fact, I am looking for offers," Juggy D as saying.

"In fact, it would be amazing if I get to collaborate with A.R. Rahman and Kailash Kher. I feel that they are amazing artistes and singing with them would be great," added the star.

Juggy D is currently in Mumbai to promote his new album Blindfolded.

Julia Roberts to attend the Dhuaaan premiere on December

Julia Roberts is impressed with Mrunalinni Dayal’s forthcoming film Dhuaaan - The Fire Within, which is based on a true story, but won’t be able to attend the premiere because of prior commitments.

Roberts watched vignettes of Dhuaaan with Claire Raskind, the publicist of her film Eat, Pray, Love, while she was shooting for the film at the Ashram Hari Mandir in Pataudi, Haryana.

"Julia is very excited about Dhuaaan because it’s based on a true story of a female protagonist like Erin Brockovich, which is a film very dear to her,” said Raskind. “Secondly, because the filmmaker is a woman."

"It is a universal story of the fight against injustice, of a single individual against erring institutions. Julia has complemented director Mrunalinni on a commendable effort and wishes the film every success," she added.

Mrunalinni invited the Pretty Woman to attend the Dhuaaan premiere on December 18. The actress won’t be able to attend it, but she has requested her Indian spiritual guru Swami Shri Dharam Devji Maharaj, of Ashram Hari Mandir in Pataudi, to attend on her behalf.

"Julia, however, regrets being unable to accept the invitation to personally attend the premiere in Mumbai in December and has requested her spiritual Guru Shri Swami Dharam Devji Maharaj to attend on her behalf," said Raskind.

Dharam Devji Maharaj, who has anointed her children with Hindu names , has confirmed his attendance.

A source says, “Harry and Pammi Baweja have their annual Diwali celebration, which goes on till the wee hours of the morning. It also has some B-town celebs attending the party. This year it was a shock to see Priyanka at the party. After her break-up with Harman, she had completely disappeared from Harman’s life. She even cut-off ties with his parents by not visiting his house. However, she was in touch with Harman’s sister Rowena, on and off.”

It was Harman Baweja ’s parents who invited Priyanka Chopra to the party. The source adds, “Although the invitation was given by Harman, it was his parents’ call which got Priyanka to his house. The actress walked in post-midnight and stayed at the party for a few hours.”

It was during the promos of What’s Your Raashee? that Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja upgraded to talking terms. The source adds, “Priyanka was like a family member when she was dating Harman. After their relationship went kaput, she never visited his house. Her attendance at Harman’s Diwali party sends out a lot of messages to people.”

But the question is that if Harman Baweja is back in Priyanka Chopra’s life, then where does that leave Shahid Kapoor, whom Priyanka Chopra is supposed to be dating.

'London Dreams' goes with the mood of the situation.

The Khanabadosh track in ’London Dreams’ composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and written by Prasoon Joshi has sparked off major curiosity about the word Khanabadosh! Ever since the number (picturised on Ajay Devgn, Asin, Rannvijay Singh and Aditya Roy Kapoor) first air played, people have been trying to figure the meaning, language and etymology of the word! Vipul Shah reveals, "It’s a Persian word, which means gypsy or nomad. It goes perfectly with the mood and context of the situation.

Ajay and Salman’s characters have come to the UK from Punjab to carve their destinies on the music scene. Rannvijay and Aditya’s characters have come from Pakistan to pursue their dreams.

So it is an ideal representation of their state of mind and living." He adds, "When Prasoon (Joshi) suggested the word Khanabadosh I found it extremely interesting and unusual. Lindsay Lohan has been asked to appear personally in court

Lindsay Lohan has been asked to appear personally in court by the judge overseeing her DUI probation, amidst reports that she has not been attending her alcohol education program.

According to TMZ source, program educators have probably told the court that Lindsay is flouting the terms.

On August 23, 2007, Lohan, 23, pleaded guilty to cocaine use and driving under the influence and was sentenced to one day in jail and 10 days community service. She was also ordered to pay fines and complete an alcohol education program, and was placed on three year probation.

If Lindsay has violated the terms of the probation, it could be revoked and she could be back to jail, adding time to the 84 minutes that she served earlier. On that occasion she was released early because of overcrowding and the nonviolent nature of the crime.

Police complaint has been filled against Amitabh Bachchan

A 14-page complaint of fraud has been filled at the Babupurwa Police Station in Uttar Pradesh`s Kanpur District against Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh, his wife Pankaja Kumari Singh and cine icon Amitabh Bachchan .

Shiv Kant Tiwari, the person who filed the complaint, claimed that all three had been involved in a financial fraud amounting to about Rs 500 crore. They have been charged with amalgamating companies for converting black money into white between 2003 and 2008, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal and DIG (Kanpur) Neera Rawat said.

The companies named in the FIR included Energy Development Company Limited, EDCL Power Limited, Pankaja Art and Credit Limited, Sarvottam Cap Limited, EDCL Infrastructure Limited and Eastern India Company, all owned or run by the Singh couple.

Lal claimed that 25 companies have been amalgamated into Sarvottam Cap Limited .

"The FIR has been lodged under various sections of IPC, Prevention of Corruption Act and Prevention of Laundering Act," he said.

Wanted has clicked in a big way-salman khan

How would you describe 2009, as far as you were concerned, career-wise?
2009 has proved to be a good year for me since my last film before Main Aurr Mrs Khanna- Wanted has clicked in a big way. The films which I have signed recently are the ones which I really wanted to do. I believed that all of them would do well, whether it was Wanted, Main Aurr Mrs Khanna or Veer or London dreams.

Why do you think Wanted clicked in a big way?
Wanted was a film which wanted a hero. It was an entirely different genre of action film. It worked because it projected the kind of a hero who was lost in the 70’s with who the audiences could identify themselves with and easily relate to. Main Aurr Mrs Khanna is actually a lesson in romance. It is about the fact that a husband is possessive, suspicious and narrow minded unless and until he is a gay. It is the way the younger generation perceives romance in a cool way.

Were you not scared about your teaming with Kareena since Kyonki had bombed?
Kareena’s magic is her spontaneity. She is looking fabulous in the film. So what if Kyonki in which we had been paired the last time did not work? I knew that the film would not work even when I was doing the film but Priyadarshan was not willing to listen to me and asked me to just trust him. It was a depressing film, not an emotional film like Tere Naam, though both of them were remakes of South Indian films.

What is Main Aurr Mrs Khanna about?
Main Aurr Mrs Khanna is different from Wanted. Main Aurr Mrs Khanna sets out to drive home the message subtly that one should not get married if one does not wish to remain loyal and the credit for making a marriage work as well as the gaali go entirely to the girl.

Which are your best as well as worst films?
I have acted in 67 films till date, though I was under the impression that I may have acted in over a hundred films. My best films have been films which have created history at the box office. Like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Karan Arjun, Sanam Bewafa, Partner and now Wanted. If you ask me the films which I want to forget, here’s the list. They are Nischay, Jagruti, God Tussi Great Ho and two films of Sawan Kumar- Chandramukhi and Chand Ka Tukada.

Why do you think some films of yours did not do well?
You start a film with the eight intentions but then somewhere it goes awry at times when the producers do not want to spend as they had planned initially when they launched the film and your film goes for a toss.

Why are you averse to watching the original films when you set out to act in their remakes?
I do not make it a point to watch the original Tamil or Telugu versions of the Hindi films which I set out to do because I do not want to be subconsciously influenced by the acting style of the regional actors. I saw parts of the original Telugu version of Wanted in which Mahesh Babu had acted and not Pokkiri the Tamil version in which Vijay had acted.

You seem to take up films with both veteran as well as new directors. Why?
If I have acted with a new director like Prabhu Deva in Wanted or Prem R Soni in Main Aurr Mrs Khanna, I am now also acting with a war horse like Anil Sharma in Veer. Both new as well as veteran directors have their own plus as well as minus points. When I heard Prem R. Soni’s script, I realized that it has been written coolly, eschewing any kind of melodrama. Prem is competent director to watch out! Anil’s forte is lavishness. His shot taking also is excellent and is good at emotional scenes. However, I have to take care that his film dos not look like a 70’s film, because he belongs to the old school.

There is this allegation that you do not plan things!
Yes. I admit I have never planned my career. I have done films at times even out of emotions without thinking about the pros and cons of doing them. I have never ever had any kind of strategy or approach when I decided to take up a film.

Isn’t it scary to compete with two more releases on Diwali?
Yes. I admit it is very scary when I realize that my films like Main Aurr Mrs Khanna, London Dreams and Veer are awaiting almost back to back releases this year, one after them other, but I am not unduly worried because I play different characters in all the films. If Main Aurr Mrs Khanna is a romantic comedy, London Dream is a youth oriented musical while Veer is an out and out period caper.

You do not seem to be too keen on doing any art film!
I am sure about one thing. That is I do not want to preach as an actor. I am here to entertain. I do not want to do art films which bore the audiences to death. I want to give back to my fans, who have made me a big star by doing meaningful films which entertain them.

How happy are you with the way your career has shaped till date?
I couldn’t have asked for more from God. I came around the time when Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt had come into the industry. I think frankly I have overstayed in the industry thanks to my fans and producers, by about ten years.

Priyanka Chopras secretary Chand Mishra arrested from the polling booth

Priyanka Chopra is known in Bollywood for not moving anywhere without her entourage of secretaries, bodyguards and PRs, even if it means a trip to the polling booth to cast her vote. On Tuesday morning her secretary Chand Mishra was arrested from the polling booth for misconduct because he rushed inside, illegally, as it transpired, to offer the star and her family some water. The Chopra family had been standing in queue for a while when Priyanka’s mother began to feel unwell, which is when the star asked her secretary to fetch some water.

According to Farogh Mukadam,Returning Officer for 164-Versova Assembly Constituency, only if a voter is physically handicapped or needs support can an attendant accompany him or her into a polling booth otherwise it is a violation of law.

According to the complainant-constable Vilas Baraskar of Versova police station, who was on poll duty - Priyanka had reached the Children Welfare Centre High School booth at around 11 am. After a while, Mishra tried to follow her in, telling the cops that Priyanka needed water. However, a constable stopped him. But a few minutes later Mishra, disregarding the cop’s advice, actually rushed into the booth with water, raising alarm.

“We have booked Chand Mishra under Section 132 (1) (3) of Representation of the People’s Act (See box). First of all, he is a resident of Borivli, so he is not authorised to enter a polling booth where he cannot vote. We are investigating why he tried to enter the booth,” said DCP (Zone IX) KMM Prasanna.

The actor’s spokesperson Natasha termed the arrest as harassment. “It’s evening and he’s still there,” she said. “Evidently, it is against the law to be within 200 yards of a polling booth without a voter’s card, and Mishra didn’t have his,” the spokesperson clarified. “Priyanka had gone to vote with her brother and parents, and had to wait in a long queue for more than 45 minutes because the voting machine had conked off. Her mother felt thirsty, and so she asked Mishra to come in with a glass of water,” she added. Mishra was eventually let off on bail.

Abhishek Bachchan kept his promise to friend Rohan Sippy

Abhishek Bachchan kept his promise to friend Rohan Sippy and T-Series by giving his nod to Rohan helmed thriller, co-produced by Rohan’s home production and T-Series.

This will be the third film together for pals Abhishek and Rohan after Kuch Na Kaho (2003) and Bluffmaster (2005).

"Both Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan were committed to a film with T-Series. Back then, Priyadarshan was supposed to make the film, however T-Series went ahead with Bhool Bhulaiya. After that, Amitabh too opted out as his dates were blocked. However, Abhishek has kept his word and now that Rohan Sippy is ready with his untitled thriller, talks are on to make it a joint production," a source told Mumbai Mirror.

Without delving into too many details, Rohan Sippy confirmed that Abhishek is the lead in his new thriller.

"Yes, we are set to start the film in December end or January. Everything is locked and we are in the process of finalizing the ensemble cast...Pritam is the music director," said the young director.

Abhishek, 33, is currently filming for Mani Ratnam’s much delayed Raavan, which additionally stars wife Aishwarya Rai, Govinda, Vikram and Nikhil Dwivedi.

Like Aishwarya, who is juggling between three projects simultaneously - Raavan (Hindi and Tamil), Guzaarish and Action Replay - Abhishek is likely to be between two projects as his next, Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey with co-star Asin, goes on floors in end November.

Abhishek will be next seen in his home production, Paa with father Amitabh Bachchan , Vidya Balan and Harman Baweja. The film is due for release on December 4.

Legend singer Al Martino died in his Springfield home

In the past few months, starting from pop legend Michael Jackson , the music world lost multiple talents. After Stephen Gately, now it is actor and singer Al Martino who died on 13th October, 2009, Tuesday at an age of 82 years. He died in his Springfield home. Sandy Friedman, the publicist for the public relation firm of Rogers & Cowan had confirmed the news of Martino’s death. However, the cause of death is not yet reported.

Jerry Blavat, the well known figure of television and Philadelphia radio met Martino on Monday. He had dined with Martino. The music legend’s wife was also present at the dinner. In his interview to Philadelphia Daily News, Blavat told that he was shocked when he came to know about Martino’s death. He said that Martino was fine when they had dined together. Blavat praised Martino’s voice and said,”He was the last of the show business legends.”

Al Martino had a glorious career which stretched for decades. The famous single of Martino, “Here in My Heart” had reached the top position in first Singles Chart of the United Kingdom. New Musical Express had published the chart on 14th Novemver 1952. This track was a landmark in the career of Martino and it registered his name into Guinness Book of World Records. After this hit track, Martino had released several melodious tracks. Come Share the Wine released in the year 2006 was the last album of this music legend.

The character of Johnny Fontane in drama film The Godfather was portrayed by Al Martino . This was one of the unforgettable works of Martino.

Suzanne Khan blew kisses at Hrithik Roshan

Together they make a picture perfect couple and are very much in love. This was proved when Suzanne Khan blew kisses at Hrithik Roshan while she sashayed down the ramp at the inaugural show of HDIL India Couture Week for her sister and jewellery designer Farah Khan.

Contrary to recent rumours that talked about the couple’s split because of Hrithik’s equation with his co-star Barbara Mori in the upcoming film "Kites", the duo looked very much together.

Dressed in an off-shoulder black gown by designer duo Gauri-Nainika, Suzanne’s entry on the ramp was acknowledged by hooting and clapping by an array of Bollywood stars including her hubby and her brother Zayed Khan.

While Hrithik kept looking at her and clapped continuously while she was on the ramp, Suzanne acknowledged him by blowing a kiss and turning her head towards him till she finished the walk.

The surprise element of the show was Bollywood actress Genelia D’Souza who walked the ramp for Farah Khan.

This is the first time that HDIL-ICW had a high-end jewellery show that featured four jewellery designers - Devaunshi Mehta, Farah Khan, Queenie Dhody and Maheep Kapoor - who came out with their dazzling collections.

After the show Zayed Khan told IANS that it was a wonderful feeling to have both his sisters walk the ramp.

"It feels good when you watch your sisters walk hand in hand on the ramp. Looking at Farah’s collection, all I can say is that she is the best," he said.

Aamir Khan team up with ace director Priyadarshan

’Mr. Perfectionist’ Aamir Khan is soon going to team up with ace director Priyadarshan to make a social film on AIDS. Priyan had approached Akshay Kumar for the same project who turned it down. However, when Priyan met Aamir for the narration, Aamir was so moved by the story that he immediately agreed to do the film. Southern Superstar Mohanlal will also feature in the movie along with Aamir. This is the first time Aamir will work with Priyan.

Lady Gaga recent performance is ‘Imagine’

Lady Gaga recently performed a rendition of late singer John Lennon’s hit ‘Imagine’ to pull in more people for a gay right’s march through the streets of Washington DC.

The ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker referred to late student Matthew Shepard, a teen who died in 1998 after he was tortured for being gay, as she played with the lyrics.

The event took place on the eve of the protests at the Human Rights Campaign`s official dinner.

In fact, US President Barack Obama who told the audience of his plans to allow homosexuals into the US military preceded Gaga on stage.

"I`m honoured to be opening for Lady Gaga tonight," the Daily Star quoted him as saying.

Gaga also joined the rally next day and took part in a street demonstration outside the White House.

Deepika Padukone plays a bold character in Karthik Calling Karthik

Model-turned-actress Deepika Padukone has revealed that she plays a "bold" character in Farhan Akhtar’s forthcoming production Karthik Calling Karthik.

"Karthik Calling Karthik is a romantic thriller and my role is quite bold and optimistic in the film as opposite to Farhan’s which is a very pessimistic one," said Deepika.

Directed by Vijay Lalwani, the film is about a man who gets phone calls from himself. It is co-produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under their banner Excel Entertainment and Amit Chandra and Vijay Lalwani of Magic Beans.

The 23-year-old actress was in the capital to launch two new soap variants of Fiama Di Wills, which is also the associate sponsor of the upcoming Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WLIFW).

Deepika, the brand ambassador of Fiama Di Wills, also unveiled designer Sumeet Varma’s preview collection for WLIFW titled ’The Life of a Swan-Swan lake’.

Asked if she preferred Indian or western wear, she said: "Personally I like Indian dresses, but I am ok with western outfits as well. While choosing a dress what I see is whether I am comfortable in it or not."

Once a state-level badminton player, the actress is also game for promoting other sports. "I played badminton with Aamir Khan for a cause. (And) I will try the same way if I can promote other games like athletics and basketball too along with badminton," said Deepika, who was last seen in romantic drama Love Aaj Kal .

Amitabh Bachchan will turn 67 years old.The Bollywood legend is planning to celebrate the occasion with his immediate family, including son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai.

On his blog, Bachchan told readers his thoughts on ageing: "I really have no recollection of what went by. I know what I am doing now.

"Age does have this adverse effect on one and I am no different from any other."

He added: "I wish, much like all else, for there to be peace and harmony . For humans to understand that we are all one and that we all have common characteristics.

"That a fragrant flower decorates our lives more than the vicious odour of hate."

Aamir Khan planning to take wife Kiran Raos Movie In international

Aamir Khan who was promoting Jaane Tu. Ya Jaane Naa in a big way last year is now going slow as a producer. Buzz is that he’s planning to take wife Kiran Rao’s Dhobi Ghat and Anusha Rizvi’s The Falling (tentative title) on farmers’ plight to international film festivals first, before planning their theatrical release since they are off the beaten commercial path.

"He’s pleased with the way the movies have shaped up and keen to get feedback from the prestigious festivals first. Depending on that, he’ll figure out his marketing strategy," says a source close to the actor. Work on Dhobi Ghat came to a halt after Kiran Rao suffered a miscarriage.

Khan immediately took his wife off for a holiday in Europe to help her recuperate.Adds the source, "Aamir’s keen to wrap up both films by November so he’ll have enough time to promote 3 Idiots that is scheduled for a December 25 release."

I'm excited about Ram Gopal Varma film-Actor Suriya

Tamil actor Suriya has agreed to make his Bollywood debut in Ram Gopal Varma’s Raktha Charithra.

Suriya, who starred in the original Tamil version of Ghajini, has been taking daily Hindi lessons to ensure he can perform fluent dialogue during the film’s shoot.

He told NDTV: "I’m excited, not because it’s a Hindi film, but because it’s a Ram Gopal Varma film. He knows how to bring out the best in an actor."

Raktha Charithra, which is scheduled for release next year, also stars Vivek Oberoi and Shatrughan Sinha.

Steven Spielberg was honored with the Liberty Medal

Award-winning filmmaker Steven Spielberg, long recognized for his artistic achievements, was honored with the Liberty Medal on Thursday for his compassion and humanitarian work.

Former President Bill Clinton presented the medal to Spielberg at the National Constitution Center, which offers history-based exhibits focused on the U.S. Constitution and gives the annual award to those whose actions represent the founding principles of the United States.

"We honor a man today who has always been able to make a simple story and make it scary, make a simple story and make it interesting and make a simple story and remind us of the greatness in us all," Clinton said.

Spielberg`s movies include the Holocaust drama "Schindler`s List" and the World War II epic "Saving Private Ryan," which both landed him Academy Awards.

"Art is and should endeavor to be among the human enterprises that contribute to the building of good and free societies," said Spielberg, whose other projects include "Amistad," about a slave ship mutiny, and the HBO series "Band of Brothers," about a company of soldiers during World War II.

In choosing Spielberg for the award, the center said he "presented stories of the struggle and triumph of humanity over tyranny, informing and inspiring millions to better understand the abiding call of liberty."

After making "Schindler`s List," based on the true story of a man who tries to save Jews from the Nazis, Spielberg established a foundation to produce video and oral histories of Holocaust survivors.

The Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation became part of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles in 2006. Its collection now stands at nearly 52,000 video testimonies in 32 languages, representing 56 countries.

Spielberg, who won Oscars for best director and best picture for "Schindler`s List" and best director for "Saving Private Ryan," will donate the Liberty Medal`s $100,000 cash prize to that organization, the National Constitution Center said.

The medal was established in 1988. Previous winners have included rock singer and human rights activist Bono, former South African President Nelson Mandela and former U.S. President Jimmy Carter.
