3 Idiots makers taken a legal action against Chetan Bhagat

3Idiot

Aal izz definitely not well between the makers of the latest Bollywood hit 3 Idiots and writer Chetan Bhagat who is clamouring for a prominent place in the film’s credits because he alleges the film to be based on his book ‘Five Point Someone’ more than he was made to believe by the film’s makers.

Before the film’s release, director Rajkumar Hirani and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra had claimed that the movie is very loosely based on Bhagat’s book and borrows only bits from it. However, after the film’s release Bhagat has been swarmed with messages from his fans claiming that the movie is significantly based on his book, prompting him to post an elaborate blog accusing the film’s makers of not showing him the script and not giving him deserved credit.

But the makers of the film are not taking it lying down.

Speaking to a tabloid, Rajkumar Hirani says a legal action may be taken against Bhagat because the rights of his book had been bought and he had also signed a contract agreeing to the film’s script and his place in the credits.

“It’s a clear case of defamation because contractually what he (Chetan Bhagat) was bound, he was given. Now why is he slandering us?” Hirani is quoted to have said.

The director said that it was upto Vinod Chopra to take a final call on whether Bhagat would be sued or not.
