‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson’s popularity graph continues to rise and 20,000 limited edition coins bearing the pop icon’s image sold out in a record 15 minutes.
Demand for the commemorative coin has been so great that the ’Thriller’ hitmaker’s estate administrators have agreed to release a second run of 20,000, reported.
The first lot sold out in just 15 minutes last week during a promotion on a US shopping channel and more were given away as part of cinema competitions around screenings of Jackson’s concert rehearsal movie ’This Is It’ at the weekend.
The special coins, a US half dollar , feature the late popstar in silhouette in front of an illuminated banner sporting his name.
Everyone who buys a ticket for the film ’This Is It’ will be given information on how to obtain the collectors coin through a website which has been designed specially for the purpose.
